John Morris is an Olympic gold medallist and world-class Canadian curler from Chestermere, Alberta. Born in Winnipeg and raised in Ottawa, John began curling at the tender age of five, and at age 20 went on to win two Canadian and World Championships, setting records along the way for most wins by a Canadian Junior Curler in 1998 and 1999.

Morris graduated from Wilfrid Laurier University with a degree in Kinesiology which he used to help author the recently released book  ”Fit to Curl”, available through Indigo and Chapters.  Not only has the book received rave reviews from Sports book critics but it is only a few more copies away from making the Canadian Best-Selling Author list.

In 2006, John teamed up with Kevin Martin and over the next 4 years became one of the most dominant teams in the history of curling.  In 2008, despite playing with a broken hand, Morris brought his team to a golden victory at the World Curling Championships.  The following year, Morris helped lead his Alberta team to a second straight Brier Championship in front of a packed house at the Calgary Saddledome.  This past February, Morris completed his reign of the Curling World, eventually reaching his ultimate goal of Olympic glory by winning gold in Vancouver with a captivated 17 million Canadians cheering them on through their TV sets.

Johnny Mo now resides in Chestermere, Alberta where he continues to pursue his two passions, firefighting and curling.  An avid outdoorsman, John stays very active in the community by speaking to local schools about fire prevention and the importance of health and fitness in youth as well as sharing his Olympic journey at public events and corporate appearances.  His home town of Chestermere was so proud of Johnny Mo that they named one of their main streets after him which will be unveiled on Canada day this summer.

During the 2010 Winter Olympics, Morris garnered quite a bit of mainstream media coverage after being named Canada’s most eligible bachelor by Entertainment Tonight Canada.  With the exposure Curling received during the 2010 games, John’s fan base now stretches worldwide with numerous fans following his every move on facebook and twitter fan pages.

He is one of the most well-known faces in Calgary and can often be spotted at prestigious functions around the city supporting various charitable organizations that he believes in.
