The team began four-in-a-row event marathon in Saskatoon at the PointOptical Curling Classic. This event is a great one showcasing top talent mainly from Western Canada (Sask and Alberta), and Team Martin played a solid defensive event, which is what you do on straighter ice in the Prairie Province.
The Team lost only one game during the preliminary round, going down to Brad Heidt’s foursome by a 4-5 score, but managed to win the rest of their matches, qualifying out of the B section. However the team suffered a Quarter Final loss to Saskatchewan’s Darrell McKee by a 4-6 score, allowing McKee to steal the 6th and 7th ends en route to victory. Still the team fared well, qualifying in every event played so far this season.
There’s no rest for the weary, as the Team must hop onto a plane right away to Quebec City, the host city of the next Grand Slam curling event, The National.
